D5.14 Replication and Upscaling Plan Leipzig
This report outlines the development process of the Energy Map Leipzig and highlights its potential implications for other municipalities, which can learn from this process and consider replicating it. The administration currently lacks data on the expansion of renewable energies and their current status. So far, each office has been left to collect this data on its own, which is inefficient and does not ensure data quality. There is also often a lack of knowledge about how these data can be obtained, leading to time-consuming research.
Until now, external consultants and engineering firms have been commissioned to develop urban concepts and strategies in order to collect or procure this information. However, this approach is tedious and time-consuming. The administration often lacks the expertise to handle these tasks internally. The aim of the “Leipzig Energy Map” is to quickly identify the potential for renewable energies and their current expansion status in order to develop measures that can be derived from this. Existing analyses by external experts should be incorporated in order to achieve synergies during processing.
