Location: KOPRIVNICA, CROATIA
Smart Cities Smart Mobility

Join CIVITAS on 26–27 January 2022 for both a CIVITAS regional city exchange workshop on rural-urban mobility, and an incubation workshop presenting tools to develop long-term mobility solutions. The workshops can be attended online or in-person in Koprivnica (Croatia). Participation is free, and registration is mandatory.

Incubation workshop

The Koprivnica event will open with a half-day incubation workshop, held on 26 January from 13:00–16:00 (UTC+1).

Mobility solutions no longer come from single providers, such as city mobility departments, a single public transport authority, or an infrastructure provider. Solutions are now developed and delivered by various stakeholders, based on a clear understanding of mobility needs. This incubation workshop will present tools and instruments that can be used to develop interventions in this complex environment, which are acceptable, financially viable, legally possible and self-sustaining in the long-term.

Mobility service providers and local authorities in particular are invited to join.

Regional City Exchange Workshop

Next, all day on 27 January, mobility stakeholders are invited to join a CIVITAS regional city exchange workshop.

Koprivnica is a small city of 33,700 inhabitants in north-west Croatia. While active sustainable mobility policies have resulted in a high percentage of cyclists and pedestrians in the city centre, the city is continuing to tackle the challenges of making the local transport more sustainable, expanding its public transport network. Improving sustainable mobility outside of the urban core is critically important for Koprivnica in order to better connect the city to other, small, neighbouring municipalities. As a result, this workshop will focus on rural-urban mobility, tackling the question: how to sustainably connect small cities?

This focus will be tackled, in part, by reflecting on the work catalysed when Koprivinca was an active city in the CIVITAS DYN@MO. Discussions will be complemented by a site visit.

Local authorities, those working in the mobility sector, mobility service providers, students, researchers and more are all warmly invited to join – in particular those who themselves face the challenge of rural-urban connectivity.

This is the second in a series of three CIVITAS regional city exchange workshops. For more information about the first such workshop, read the Aachen Success Story e-booklet, which was the result of the event.
