The city of Leipzig will moderate the HOT SPOT event on the topic of “Thinking together about the energy transition and monument preservation” on 20 April.

The event will focus on the energy transition and preservation of historical monuments. Lighthouse City Leipzig’s appearance is characterised by its Wilhelminian architecture and other listed buildings that should be preserved. At the same time, the energy turnaround and the expansion of renewable energy require the roof of these historic buildings to accommodate the installation of photovoltaic systems. Within the framework of the SPARCS, Baumwollspinnerei – one of Leipzig’s demo sites – underwent such a change to.

At the HOT SPOT event, Klaus Jestaedt, Head of Department at the Office for Building Regulations and Monument Preservation, will introduce how solar installations and monument protection can work side by side in Leipzig.

Simon Baum, project manager at CENERO Energy GmbH, a partner in the SPARCS project, will show us how the energy transition can succeed in listed buildings, using the best-practice example of Baumwollspinnerei . Afterwards, there will be the opportunity to discuss with the guests. Further information is available here: https://sparcs-leipzig.info/
