1st PARTICIPATORY SESSION WITH SOBREIRO’s NEIGHBOURHOOD RESIDENTS within the HORIZON EUROPE Project EHHUR (EYES HEARTS HANDS URBAN REVOLUTION)
On July 13th, Maia City Council and Espaço Municipal promoted, at the Community Center of Vermoim and Sobreiro (CCVS), the 1st Participatory Session of the European project “EHHUR – Eyes, Hearts, Hands, Urban Revolution”, supported by Horizon Europe Program.
In this first session, there was a strong adherence and participation of residents in this rehabilitation process, whose intervention will begin in Blocks 41 and 42 at the end of this year, within the scope of the 1º Direito (Program to Support Access to Housing).
Due to its central location at the City core, the Sobreiro neighbourhood has a strategic territorial importance within SPARCS’s Implementation Plan, namely for the installation of an Energy Community, e-generation technologies and the development of an “eco – neighbourhood”.
Residents participated in a reflection exercise that the rehabilitation process entails, with a view to creating an urban space that is more inclusive and open to the entire community. Also during this initiative, participants were invited to choose, through an interactive voting process, the type of coatings considered to be preferred for the rehabilitation of their respective kitchens and bathrooms.
This event also had the support and participation of partner entities of the municipality and Espaço Municipal in the EHHUR project: the Porto Energy Agency (AdEPorto), EDP_New and the Portuguese Innovation Society (SPI).
The EHHUR is part of the restricted range of seven projects at European level approved under the “Missions of the European Union”. In this way, it is intended to assume as a form of support for concrete solutions in response to the challenges we currently face. You can find more information on the EHHUR website.
