The Czech Technical University in Prague, CVUT hosted a workshop during Urbis Smart City Fair taking place between19 21 September 2022, gathering at one place 4 Czech follower/fellow/sandbox cities.

Brno from Ruggedised; Kladno from SPARCS, PrahaOperátor ICT – OICT from CRAFT Cities, Písek from CityxChange gathered to discuss about main needs and key learnings during the event. Brno highlighted their experience with stakeholder engagement and systematic preparation of Špitálka district redevelopment. It is expected to be the first complete redevelopment coordinated by city stakeholders and offered to private investors in a unique PPP.

Giving SPARCS as an example, Kladno highlighted that the project is a kick-starter for broader systemic changes in the city (four key strategies were developed through SPARCS) and work on the Positive Energy District concept. Praha, which is part of Triangulum and CRAFT, focused together with the university on how the lessons learned from various EU-funded projects can be accumulated and multiplied within the city administration. Písek successfully implemented the Positive Energy Blocks plan and established a city data management platform working with numerous IoT applications.

All participants were in consensus that most of these activities would hardly happen without international collaborations, which facilitate the exchange of knowledge. Several other Czech cities attended the workshop inspired by the stories.
