SPARCS Fellow City Maia is becoming a lighthouse city with the kick-off of a new project supporting the New European Bauhaus.

This takes the Portuguese city a step further toward climate neutrality as technological solutions will be developed there to facilitate urban transformation.

EHHUR project stands for Eyes Hearts Hands and Urban Revolution and was officially launched in November with a meeting in Genoa.

EHHUR is part of a limited range of 6 projects at the European level approved within the scope of the so-called “European Missions” and supported by the Horizon Europe Programme.

The project shares SPARCS’ goal to help develop concrete solutions in response to the greatest challenges cities in Europe are currently facing.

EHHUR also launched within the scope of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative, which connects the European Green Deal to our daily lives and living spaces.

The importance of this project was highlighted by the European Commissioner for Innovation and Research, Mariya Gabriel, in the last edition of the European Week of Regions and Cities.

During the first meeting of EHHUR a total of 33 partners and 5 affiliated entities, which form the consortium, met to align with the project’s objectives and the upcoming activities and responsibilities.

Maia is one of the 7′ lighthouse demonstrators who will participate in the project during the next 3 years of implementation.
