The city of Leipzig has started an innovation competition named „Smart City Challenge Leipzig“ on the 12th of March 2021, which will be the first of an annual competition. Founders, Start-Ups, students and established ventures are called to find innovative and digital solutions for predetermined questions in the areas of civil society and urban administration.

The topics of this years competition are:

• „Virtual and interactive city walk through Leipzig for the whole family“
• „Urban environment data – see and understand“ and
• „Innovative linkage of participation models“

Three possible solutions will be chosen from all submitted ideas, which will be further developed together with the municipality. For each of these nine ideas in total, 2.000€ are written out.

From these ideas the best solution for each topic will be chosen and tested in practice. The three remaining concepts will be financed with a maximum of 25.000€ each in the implementation phase.

The closing date for applications for the Smart City Challenge Leipzig 2021 will be the 07.05.2021. The competition is realised in cooperation with the Smart City Infrastructure Hub Initiative and neatlessly joins the exisiting acitivities of Leipzig’s Ecosystem of Founders.
