The Duncker Neighbourhood in Leipzig: a model district for SPARCS
Leipzig is one of two lighthouse cities where technological solutions are being tested. The project partners in Leipzig include the city of Leipzig, University of Leipzig, Leipziger Stadtwerke, Fraunhofer Institute, Wohnen & Service Leipzig GmbH (WSL), Leipziger Wohnungs- und Baugesellschaft (LWB), Cenero Energy GmbH and seecon Ingenieure GmbH.
The Duncker neighbourhood in the west of Leipzig serves as a model district. We are working together with the community to develop an environmentally friendly neighbourhood. Over the past years several events have already taken place. After a successful 2023, we are continuing into 2024 with plenty of exciting events in the Duncker neighbourhood on the topics of energy and sustainability.

Details to follow, but please mark the date in your calendar. See you there!
All events will take place at the LWB-Kiosk in the „Nachbarschaftstreff“ of the LWB, Dr.-Hermann-Duncker-Straße 2
All residents of the Dunckerviertel are warmly invited!
Together with the Caritas Association Leipzig e.V., WSL and the Consumer Center Saxony e.V., we give tips on how to understand and control energy consumption and costs. Our partners will share helpful electricity and heating saving tips. We will cover everything, from how to use your refrigerator to save electricity to how to heat and ventilate correctly. There will also be enough time for questions and further consultation.
With the children’s cinema we would like to raise awareness and inform children and families about the topics of sustainability and resource scarcity. We will also be giving away a small prize for the children!
The SPARCs App is still available for residents of Beckerstr. 52-56!
With the app you can monitor your own heat and electricity consumption and compare it with the average in your neighborhood. Find out live where the energy hotspots are, where you can protect the environment and your wallet!
These events represent only a small part of the diverse activities carried out by the SPARCS partners across Europe and Leipzig. We are excited to contribute a small part by organizing events in the Duncker neighbourhood and raising awareness in both adults and children about sustainability.
