SPARCS aims to generate tailored and effective solutions replicable across and beyond Europe through its Fellow cities:

  • Maia in Portugal
  • Kifissia in Greece
  • Kladno in the Czech republic
  • Lviv in Ukraine
  • and Reykjavik in Iceland

SPARCS fellow cities are already very well oriented in the carbon-free urban community transformation. Their objective is to promote energy-friendly urban development, enhancing the social cohesion and ensuring high quality of life fostering urban transformation into carbon free urban spaces and energy positive blocks and districts. To achieve this, Fellow cities follow the replication strategy of SPARCS, using the knowledge exchange opportunities, the Fraunhofer Morgenstadt city lab methodology, project development processes, solution scaling, and innovative joint procurement.

The Fellow cities will co-create locally adapted solutions, inspired by projects and achievements of the LHCs to foster urban transformation into carbon free spaces and positive energy districts. Fellow cities are also connected to the family of more than 100 innovative smart cities across Europe to help them replicate and scale-up solutions with partner cities and beyond. In doing so, the SPARCS Fellow cities drive the urban energy transformation forward.
